TOKETEE FALLS, OR

Places to Stay

We actually just passed through here during our summer 2018 road trip so did not stay in the area. We hiked to the falls and spent a few hours here, and then we hopped back on the road to continue our journey.

Things to Do

• Hike all the way down to the falls

There's 2 things you can do here. You can hike "to the falls", or you can continue your adventure and hike "down to the falls"!

Toketee Falls is within the Umpqua National Forest, in Idleyld Park, Oregon. We put "Toketee Falls" in our GPS and it pretty much took us right to the trailhead.

The hike to the falls is an easy 0.8 mile hike. Once we got to the observation deck though we were disappointed because the falls were still pretty far away. Although the view was still gorgeous, it wasn't what we had seen in other peoples photos. About 4 minutes later we noticed a group of people climb over the metal fence to hike down to get closer. At first we were skeptical of this but figured why not! We may only be here once, might as well go all out.

We followed the others over the railing and down an extremely steep hill of rocks (picture above). This part of the hike was very difficult and somewhat dangerous, so be extra careful & go really slow if you choose to do it too. There were ropes though that helped guide us down. (Once we saw the ropes, we knew that this was normal for those "adventure seekers" out there)

Extending the hike to go all the way down turned this experience completely around (for the better). It was probably an extra 10-15 min (give or take). Once we got down to the bottom it was an unbelievable view of the falls and we were even able to take a dip in the natural wave tossed pool! The water was literally 40 degrees and took your breath away but almost everyone jumped in. As cold as it was, it was completely worth it and super awesome to experience. Plus it was a beautiful summer day when we went.

If you're up for the challenge, hike it all the way down, you won't regret it :)
